The Wildtronics Micro Mic XLR Microphone is a cost effective, low noise, high sensitivity omnidirectional microphone that can be used in one of our parabolic kits or be used by itself as a general purpose omnidirectional microphone. The Micro Mic XLR's small size can be used less obtrusively than longer microphones that can stick outside the parabolic dish, making the system more portable.

The Micro Mic XLR requires 48 volt phantom power to power the microphone. Phantom power is delivered from your XLR connector based recorder. The microphone has a balanced output. The noise floor of the microphone is just 14dBA, which is good enough for picking up quieter natural environments. The Micro Mic XLR does not come with a cable. Since every application needs a different length cable, we suggest you select your preferred length cable from your favorite audio supplier. We have a 5 foot XLR cable available under the Accessories sections in our Webstore.

When you purchase the Micro Mic XLR with a parabolic kit, we will include an adapter that allows the parabolic kit to hold the microphone. Insert the adapter in the parabolic kit's mounting hub first so that the slit in the adapter is 90 degrees from the thumbscrew location. When the thumbscrew is tightened, the slit will close and hold the microphone tightly. Refer to your parabolic kit's manual for setting depth for proper focus.

The Wildtronics family of microphones were developed by Bruce Rutkoski, who has professionally recorded nature sounds for over 20 years and originated new recording techniques. Bruce's recordings are available through Natureguy Studio in CD and MP3 formats.

In the future there will be audio samples here using the Micro Mic XLR Microphone.
